Hi Stacy,
We were told that we had to have a business account to ship live lizards.
They asked several questions to screen out people who do not ship regularly
such as:
How many times a month do you ship?
How do you package the animals for shipment?
Will you be shipping animals for others who do not have an UPS account? etc.
We qualified for the occasional shipper business account which does not
require a monthly fee, but the shipping rates are higher than the
fee-per-month account.
All live animals must be taken to a UPS drop off counter as part of the
shipping agreement.
After getting the geckos back home today we received a phone call saying
that we needed a special document that we would need to have with us every
time we shipped. They had expediting approval of the papers so if we wanted
to ship tomorrow they would fax it to us in the AM. We decided to wait until
next Monday to ship because of our own company policy of only shipping on
Monday or Tuesday to prevent stranded geckos over the weekend.
When we first brought the geckos to the counter they immediately said no
shipping of live lizards. After several phone calls everything seemed to be
just fine, our account was in order, and they were excited that we were
shipping geckos and wanted to see what they looked like. The boxes were
already sealed but we promised to leave them open so they could see them
next time.
I will give the list an update next Tuesday on how round two of the shipping
saga works out.

p.s. two new P. v-nigra pasturi eggs this evening. Yippee
