I prefer live. I find artificial plants harder to keep clean, and offer little for me. Live will help with humidity issues, grow , so the cage is changing. The geckos love them. I find even water drops form differntly, making drinking easier for them...maybe not easier, but more reliable to go well from my perspective. I do keep the plants a couple weeks outside the cages when buying new. I shower them really well to help wash away and reduce any pesticides. I prefer to leave them in pots and bury the pots in the cage. This makes changing and maintaining them easier.
