I prefer live plants for several reasons.
I have found that several species of geckos will lay eggs in the live plants
and hatch without my interference. Live plants also provide suitable places
for them to hide, explore and hunt. The live plants do well in the vivarium
due to the requirements of the geckos, humidity, lighting is perfect. I am
more into the naturalistic habitats and find that the living plants, mosses,
etc are also more pleasing to the eye as well as much more beneficial to my
animals.
I find the silk plants more trouble to clean than the live plants.
