I am assuming this was a United States incident?

In an unrelated taxa incident, a shipment of South American frogs was
recently apprehended at the border and confiscated, including
Dendrobates histrionicus (poison arrow frog which has been disappearing
from known locations) and thankfully all were diverted to the National
Aquarium in Baltimore. Hopefully the Feds will do something similar. Any
idea at which entrance point? Maybe if the geckos still are alive, some
type of agreement with FWS and zoo can be reached.

Could this be some type of outreach GGA could do? that is, work with FWS
so that any confiscated geckos are put into the hands of experienced
people and all is not lost? As a growing and respected organization, we
could have contacts at the major entrance points' (i.e. JFK airport,
Miami etc.) FWS office and the animals could be put into responsible
hands? I know, I know, wishful thinking, but thought I would bring up
this point. There was something similar done with a confiscated shipment
of turtles in the Hong Kong (?) they were intercepted and are being
diverted to a recognized facility in Florida. The people in Florida may
have some insight in how to become 'recognized' by the FWS to be
considered if such an unfortunate event were to occur again.

Do any of the GGAers in non-US locations know of such arrangements in
their home countries?
