    You can actually take the DNA out yourself. You need to take a chunk of 
liver out and chop it up then mix it with the alcohol. You have to be careful 
and wear latex gloves and be sure your sampling the frogs DNA and not your own, 
from pieces of hair or skin. Isopropyl alcohol is what Ichthyologists use to 
preserve fish specimens, it is sometimes used for herps. The use of formalin 
will harden the specimen so measuring and other data can be utilized. The 
amount of color lost from the animal is dependent on how long the animal is kept in 
formalin. Color will also be lost when the animal is held in alcohol for long 
term storage, I think the loss of color is inevitable.
