File translation is the main reason I have been replacing the c code for reading schematics and symbols with a guile script module.
For my purposes I would like to be able to port development projects back and forth from standard geda to my non-stock version. But the idea of being able to interact with proprietary and open source cad tools in my opinion would make geda much more attractive to the engineering world. Steve M.
