This is where I'm headed. The end result will be that everything
you need will still be in the schematic files. I'm not going to introduce
anything radical.
I'm at the stage of trying to decide if I want an external
program or something built into gschem in order to drive this mechanism.
If it (whatever "it" may be) was built into gschem it would probably be
easier for users, but perhaps less flexible. I suppose any built in
mechanism could be ignored and if somebody needs to do something more
radical they would still be able to do so.
Oh yeah, what's the current state of visualizing pcb footprints?
Does an external program exist for rendering the footprints or can I just
use pcb to do so (being driven from a different program)?
