The Pentium doesn't have to route tracks between pins.
I agree that boards with 8+ layers are a minority, but the issue is that *some* boards will require more than 8 layers, and many commercial ones will. If you were selecting a program to use at work, and there was even a small possibility that your boards would need more than 8 layers, would you expend the time and effort needed to use PCB?
