I setup a local DNS server. I thought I could use my own DNS server and have it be authoritative for my domain at my location. I currently have my domain registered and being hosted by a typical hosting company.

I have it all setup and working with my own web server, mail server, ftp server and DNS server. I am at the point where I need to point my domain to my DNS server but I just am not sure exactly how it works. I need to ask some questions about this but don't know where to turn. I would appreciate it if anyone that knows this that is willing give me a few answers or maybe direct me to a DNS mailing list or forum where I can get some basic info.
