the main point of using the OLD ones is that its a straight installation You choose between 3 uses for its operation during installation process. You cant choose the wrong one because you know how youre going to use it.
the problem with the 5.0 version is if yuo do the math..... there is i belive a total of more then 12 ways to install it and doing it the wrong way can be a week long repetative activity. Also since you have installed it wrong, asking for help is almost futile since the tech or person answering you, in only going to be able to assume you installed it exactly the way you should have but this new version is so asvanced..... its too easy to get it wrong ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, August 26, 2007 7:16 PM Subject: RE: [General-discussion] SQL Issue Well 5.0 Installs Standard under Program Files... the old ones were in MYSQL... tried a complete after tape backup install... No Good. Same thing.. is there anything else I can do or should I just log a ticket? I have too much configured to just blow away this pc from scratch. If I knew how to bring up the command shell I could atleast try to get the databases up and running Thanks Bill -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dave St John Sent: Sunday, August 26, 2007 6:48 PM To: Dj Liqid Touch; [email protected] Subject: Re: [General-discussion] SQL Issue http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php?p=mysql-4.0 I know that doesnt help your situation, but at a minimum you should be using MySQL 5.0 > Brought them home and placed them on the laptop from the external. > Sam installed fine but only after i went through a month of CAN NO FIND SOURCE with SQL dammit More then likely your mysql config file may have been left on the other pc under C:\WINDOWS Mysql 3 installers stored these files there, so look for my.ini on the other pc. However that may not even help your situation as migration from mysql 3 -> mysql 5 will undoubtedly have some unexpected issues. My advice, start fresh and clean, if you need access to old stats from mysql 3, keep it installed on another machine thats not mission critical but affords you access to the data when needed.
