I had the same problem for a while, the connection would work fine under
windows, but when I plugged in the linux box with the same exact
configuration it was a no go. I stumbled on the fact that the only way it
would work for me was to cycle the power on the cable modem before I
swapped. I'm not sure why it works like that.

OK folks, do you know what's up?
I have a dual boot system that uses cox internet service. They're network
configurations were essentially the same and were the cox reccommended
settings (for windoze). I've had both systems ticking along nicely, until
tonight. The Linux networking is down over here while windows is up. I can
only guess that an unnannounced configuration change has occurred...
Anybody knows what gives ?
