Mat,

Will checkout the fstab entries. Did ls on the vfat root directories to
make sure
I could see what was there. Edited fstab by guess in pico. Wanted the
floppy drives and CD to be mountable by users, of which there is really only
one.

On boot, one of the last messages is Can't locate block-major-30
Wonder what this means.

However I've made a few mistakes setting up modem connection.

Here are a couple of problems:

hostname comes up the ISP server name, msy.bellsouth. Can change it
to what I want, but then when I bring up Netscape it has a host problem.

Haven't figured out how to tell modem to hang up when I'm finished on the
net.

Have been getting frequent lockups starting KDE as ordinary user. Had
a very few with Gnome as root. Suspect I need to set something to let
ordinary user dial ISP; probably thinks the modem belongs to root.

Another project is to get my DittoMax parallel port tape drive working,
since my printer won't work in Linux for the time being. Insmod doesn't
find bpck-fdc.o which is needed. Have surfed a bit without finding where
to download it. Wonder if it is on one of the install CDs?

Plan to download the new Opera 6 for Linux.

Thanks for the ideas.

Choppy
