Yesterday got around to software in preparation
for a hardware upgrade to the Linux box. After
rearranging partitions so all the Windows stuff
is on one drive and the other reserved for Linux,
installed the Cheapbytes version of RH Linux 9.
Noticed that Pink Tie replaced Red Hat in may,
but not all, places.

Installation went smoothly except that at the end
was unable to create a boot floppy -- probably
Linux is more picky about the used drive for that
than usually. Will have to figure out another way
to make the floppy.

So far brief experiments running the Linux side
look very good. Recognized sound card on first
boot and configured it. Used telinit 3 to switch
from runlevel 5 to 3. Need to configure to mount
some Windows partitions, let all users use CD
and floppy drives, etc.

After headaches with previous versions, this install
went very well. Maybe Linux is ready for the
Dummy crowd after all.

Choppy
