To get around the inbound port 80 block, run your server on an alternate port (ie http://house.scottharney.com:81). Better still, set yourself up with a local SSL cert and run it under https, port 443, which is unblocked (https://house.scottharney.com). I've never been bothered about running this in 3 years. A cox engineer for new orleans reads the NOLUG list so he knows I'm doing it. If you really have no need to run one locally, then don't. ftp may or may not be blocked. I never use it. Use ssh for file transfer. Much safer. If all you're doing is moving files, this may be all you need. IPSEC VPNs work fine over Cox. I also do VPNs using vtun (http://vtun.sf.net) over ssh. -- Scott Harney<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> "...and one script to rule them all." gpg key fingerprint=7125 0BD3 8EC4 08D7 321D CEE9 F024 7DA6 0BC7 94E5
