Thanks, David. I'll be happy to explain why it's relevant, since I have
edited the caustic out of my draft response.

It is relevent because:
1) I am an active member of BRLUG and have been for a number of years
2)..Read number 1 again.
3) The discussion was about using a PVR (a.k.a. HTPC) to record
television, which I do
4) The discussion mentioned MythTV and problems with it. I don't use MythTV
5) The discussion mentioned PVR-250's--- I have positive experience with
and recommend PVR-250's
6) I don't sell SageTV, PVR-250's, Windows boxes or HTPC's (this wasn't UCE)
7) I prefaced it by saying "For those who are interested...", expecting
that some people would not be interested in attending
8) I am doing a _volunteer_ presentation at
a _local_ _computer_hobbyist_club_ that welcomes visitors
9) I _invited_ attendance to a non-commercial presentation that I am making
10) I even warned you that it would not be focused on Linux, since I don't
want anyone to come under false pretenses. Even though Clickers has a
Linux Newbies SIG that meets jointly with the BRLUG Newbies group -- and
meets at the Clickers facilities, it's still primarily a Windows-centeric
group.
11) I mentioned that the MS "WinXP MCE" solution was not acceptable to
many people (and why) at the Clickers' December meeting (do I get a brownie
point for that?)

If you are offended by my post because my PVR runs under Windows and not
under Linux, then I suggest that you reread the thread (not just the
section quoted) and read the various websites about Linux PVR software
alternatives (the words "beta," "preliminary," "not stable," and "to be
added later" appear all too frequently).

If I wanted to run a Linux PVR, which I seriously considered at design time
last spring, I'd still be running multiple VCRs for my family, in addition
-- and still setting the timers for them, too. My HTPC routinely gets used
by the wife and son, neither of whom are techies nor are they understanding
at all to any "it's not working right now" or "I'm trying to find a new
driver" excuses.
