> >> What is the opinion of the BRLUG members on the AMD v. Intel suit?
It's a tough call. I used to be of the opinion that since Intel was the lead and had been leading for a long time then i'd just stick with what works. But lately AMD has been real strong. I guess it depends a lot of what you want to do with the processor. If you want to overclock I think AMD is probably the best bet. But if you want something rock solid then maybe the intel. However I don't think the AMD will have any problems with instability. For me, as far as my customers, I suggest they buy Dell and therefore they'll get Intel. Mostly because it's easier to support the machine if I only have to call one place. I don't want to be hunting down shops to get warrantied parts from them. I'd rather just call 1 place and so far Dell is the cheapest/ best quality. If Dell sold AMD and there was a significant price difference in the options, then I may choose the AMD. If there was no price difference between processor X and Y and one was intel and one was AMD, I'd probably buy the Intel. Just because it's what I'm used to. BB
