VIA has had one or two decent chipsets for the AMD platform (KT7/KT7A) , 
but I overwhelmingly recommend NVidia's NForce to just about everyone 
these days... and SiS on the low end.

I've got a A64 3000+/NForce4 and a AXP 2200+/SiS.  Both run great.
