I am mildly surprised that no one mentioned freevo
(http://freevo.sf.net).  It looks to still be active.

I haven't used it, and really don't know much about it.  I remember a
few years back i tried it and mythtv, and liked mythtv better.  I had
audio/video sync problems, but i blamed it on my old hauppage wintv2000
card and not being able to use the audio directly from it.
