No, I understood that.  As I mentioned in the original mail I sent you, I 
didn't know who held the copyright.

I thought either Jsoftware or Eric Iverson might (I have no clue who KEI's 
heirs are).   If it's the ACM, then it's the ACM.  I
guess when you publish in a journal you surrender your copyright?  

In any case, I am not put off by the result; i.e. that I cannot share these 
files; nothing has been lost.  But I was put off by
Jsoftware's complete lack of response to my message.

But, then, J's free.  Thanks.
