A professional photographer friend of mine who is
NOT an attorney, said that copyright laws only prohibit one
from benefitting commercially from redistribution or
reproduction. The way I understood his interpretation of the
law, if an individual, not a company or an organization,
uses or makes available a copy for another individual to
use, without any money at all changing hands, then there is
no copyright infringement regardless of who holds the
copyright.

        I too, am no expert, but wonder if this more liberal
interpretation is correct.
