`Operator' is traditional (incl. its use in APL), but `modifier'
is much more descriptive.

The only thing I find worth interjecting is that function should indeed refer 
to the set of verb, adverb, conjunction. functions process an input into an 
output.

You can derive an adverb pretty easily without 1 : --- (@+:) is an adverb 
(bident)
