I just get a chuckle from the excesses of these OT posts. As a happy
resident of fly-over country who is not a dubya-hater (like many are
in non-fly-over country), which is not the same as dubya-loving, I
resent that pubescent tirade. Most of us red-staters are no more
interested in creationism than you are. OTH, most of us are not
interested in the crime levels and immorality (oops that's progressive
sexual behavior) in non-fly-over land. Most of us are not even
interested in bible thumping.
Your presumption that GDP generation, paying of taxes, and sheer
numbers makes everything right about the blue states is rather
childish and, of course, runs counter to the Constitution which made
us a Republic not an absolute democracy.
You may choose to consider dubya the root of all evil in this country,
but not everyone would agree with that. It's simply a cheap shot to
fault the man for not realizing in advance that his vacation would
overlap the worst disaster in recent memory.
The rational approach is not to apportion instant blame before all the
facts are in. As the facts roll in, it will be clear that there is
plenty of blame to go around at all government levels.
A side note: one of the interesting facts I learned a few days ago is
that the actual expenditures during the Bush administration for the
lower Mississippi levee system equal or exceed comparable expenditures
during the Clinton administration, but I doubt that such information
will reach the dubya-hating media.
I am mindful of the old adage: if you put the government (pick any
level of government) in charge of Saudi Arabia, within 6 months there
would be a shortage of sand.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code ... If you write
the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not
smart enough to debug it.
