Hi again, I have a brand new report this time (hope it'd be useful...). I was unable to install succefully any of the x86_64 ISOs nor even boot from the VirtualBox's vdi:
My system: AL x86_64 Kernel: Linux 2.6.35-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Wed Sep 29 08:45:18 CEST 2010 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux VirtualBox v. 3.2.10 r66896 Assigned 1 gb RAM and 2 cores to the VM If I'm missing relevant data please ask for it. ++------------------------- archserver-redgum-rc2-server-netinstall-x86_64.iso: 1. login with root [OK] 2. launch km to set keyboard to qwerty/es.map. On the second screen (the font selection screen) I choose skip [OK] 3. /arch/setup [OK] 4a. (1) Select Source --> net --> Setup Network --> dhcpcd eth0 [OK] 4b. (4) Select Packages --> (Refreshing database...) --> KABOOM: Pacman preparation failed! Check /dev/tty7 for errors. At this point I must apologize since I'm trying to install this image in a virtual machine and I have no way to change to others ttys, if there's any please let me know and I happily re-run the installation! ++----------------------------- archserver-redgum-rc2-server-core-x86_64.iso: Steps 1 to 6b [OK] 7. (4) Select Packages --> (Refreshing database...) --> selected both BASE and BASE-DEVEL 8. (5) Install Packages --> [ERROR] (at the log's bottom) ... checking for file conflicts... error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files) /mnt/etc/gssapi_mech.conf exists in both 'libgssglue' and 'nfs-utils' Errors ocurred, no packages were upgraded. ++----------------------------- ArchServer-20100222-x86_64.vdi Seems this error may be udev related: ... done. Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/7ecb1ed0-30df-41ab-935e-58e1071f61fb ... Root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/7ecb1ed0-30df-41ab-935e-58e1071f61fb' doesn't exist. Attempting to create it. ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device '/dev/disk/by-uuid/7ecb1ed0-30df-41ab-935e-58e1071f61fb'. You are being dropped to recovery shell ... Well, that's all. I downloaded two times all 3 files and I keep having these very same errors. Thank you very much for your awesome work guys, AS will rule the server scene, I'm sure of it! I hope this help you track down what's going on, plese don't hesitate in asking any other info you judge convenient. Regards, msx
