Sure you can. You might get hacked though. Linux or FreeBSD on an old
486 might be a better firewall, but go ahead and let us know how it
turns out :)

when the windows machine is connected and working, go to start | run
and type winipcfg. Expand it to more info and make a note of your dns
servers, IP address, default gateway and dchp server (just in case)

Do you have log-in software on the windows machine ? I do here.
There si a log-in script for Time Warner and the same for linux and
FreeBsd. If this is the case, you'll have to figure out a log-in
script for yours as well.

If not continue.

that doesn't mean anything.

Genesis does that for me, but I'm on demo miami as I can't get it to
work reliably and knowone has sent me a config and settings details
for the cn40bc yet, not even Chris who I also e-mailed off the list
last week.

I would try the miami demo as well. Obviously if you can get on with
miami, then the problem is the Genesis config and other settings.

Reverify with the ISP that you do have a static IP and make a note of
what he gives you.

<SNIP>
