TBH, the first time I learnt about iproute2 -- about 3 or 4 years ago -- I no longer use ifconfig. It's so similar to Cisco IOS commands structure that I immediately took a liking to it. (Less cognitive dissonance going back and forth between Linux and Cisco routers). Rgds, --
