One way would be to export the contours as DXF files and extract the nodes within AutoCAD. 
 
If you have MapInfo it can be done as well, but it's much much easier if you have the Discover plug-in.

How would I go about creating a database of the actual X and Y coordinates of a contour?  The contour gx will give me a visual display of that contour, but how would I go about extracting the X's and Y's from the data?
