Well,
I read that autodesk is going to pay for the travel expenses therefore
a problem less to go.
I think that we need to be in that list no matter who will speak for
Geotools, if Chris go I am more than fine with that, otherwise as I
suggested we should ask Martin or Jody or someone else who is an
active developer and has time to go.
Yeah, this actually does bring up something I've been meaning to
mention for awhile. New PMC's. Does anyone know where the current
PMC list is?

I will be away at the time of this meeting, thanks for speaking well of
me everyone. I would be more then happy to nominate Jesse and Justin
for PMC. Both these members are taking on a large geotools roll at the
moment, and are aware of the problems facing the toolkit and our plans
to address them.
There are a couple nominations I'd like to make, and indeed I'm not
sure I still should be a PMC as I don't do active development and
don't really plan to. Though I plan to stay involved in design
discussions where my historical knowledge is valuable, to still help
usher new developers in, and indeed to help drive sustained support of
GeoTools, by way of GeoServer. But we should maybe discuss what the
role of PMC's is and should be.
I echo that, the PMC has been "too active", when I started the project
was run by Module Maintainers and I would like to see it return to that
base. The PMC has in my mind been for those taking on the grunt work of
keeping the community going - myself hearding confluence along, or the
architecture. Or Richard putting out milestone releases. Or Martin being
Martin :-) Or Rueben explain what Martin ment to the rest of us ;-)
James was definitely invited, GeoTools has been in all the
discussions, indeed there's no way it can't be with uDig and GeoServer
in the mix. I think the list just reflects those who have accepted.
Unfortunately Jody is no longer going to be on the continent. Perhaps
we should hurry up and get Bryce up to PMC (unless he already is and
I'm forgetting it and/or completely forgot), and have James ask
autodesk if his invite can go to Bryce. Martin would also be good,
but he's a bit far away, would take awhile just to travel there and back.
Yep Bryce rocks out, gives me hope for the future ;-)
But regardless, I do think we should have an irc meeting about what
geotools feels about the foundation. If it's a good thing, and what
such a foundation would have to look like for GeoTools to be a part of
it. I get the impression it's still up in the air, and if we have
valuable, concrete feedback it will be incorporated.
Thanks for taking this on Paul, I wont be at next Monday's IRC meeting,
but this should go to the top of the Agenda. If it is not too much
trouble I would like to ask that whomever attends speak for GeoAPI as
well, even if it is just Paul wearing an OGC hat.
Jody
