Hi Jody, Andrea, If I read you posts correctly there will hardly ever be a release under the new numbering scheme with a non-zero suffix. Next release is 8.0.0, then we make the usual additions extensions etc and go to 8.1.0...
In that case why bother having three parts to the version string at all ? Why not just have X.x and leave open the option of a (probably) rare X.x.patch_number ?
