I don't know much about the temporal module, hopefully Simone and Daniele
or Alessio will chime in (warning, this is a long weekend in Italy).

As for the interfaces I agree with Jody, we still have scars from the
last filter
update, made half way and never completed (and still it is not complete,
FilterCapabilities anyone?).
Better move the interfaces you need among the api and break solid
whatever needs to be broken, so that we don't have to spend the next
year chasing temporal filters disappearing halfway in a style duplicator,
a attribute visitor or a xml dumper (just to make an example).
