Same goes for georeferencing video files, something that I've been thinking about a lot lately. I believe that MPEG-4 can have metadata for each frame. Talk about precision!

Maybe I am misreading your point, but it seems sort of hostile...that
SHOUTING and all. Correct me if I am just being too sensitive.
Assuming I am reading you right, your point is that voice recordings
are created by individuals who are actively aware of, and managing,
the recording process. That does not seem to match
my experience of the medium.
Sure, you can go to a place, and talk about it, then move to another
place. But that hardly requires one to be on location. That is a
simple audio travelogue based on points.
But there are many many circumstances where that just doesn't seem to
match what is happening.

Okay. I'm happy to accept that you find a different approach to be
'more reasonable' than my approach. I find my approach more
reasonable.
