First of all, I think the people trying to "ban" all shipping is
really just unfair. I don't ship unless I'm at a space risk, but
unfortunately there are few respectible gerbil breeders in my
area.

Second, also banning shipping completely leads to other problems.
If someone has 5+ breeding pairs and has always done shipping to
find all their pups homes, and suddenly they can't, that could
lead to 50+ gerbils fast which would then usually end up in more
pet store gerbils. So if we're not careful, we'll create more,
and potentially worse problems.

I personally think shipping is not as bad as everyone seems to
make it. Like I've said, I've always seen it to be more the
person behind the shipping than the shipping itself. Someone on
the list had a gerbil in the mail for 3 or more days on accident,
and she wasn't very popular around here. So, if we could ease up
a bit and lower this down to simply making suggestions and
stating our opinion, I think it would be a lot easier to deal
with. Sending graphic and explicit stories about shipping
problems to the list is not going to help, I will guarantee it.
