While I give my gerbils their seed mix every day or every other day, I
do not change the water every day.  I replace it when it runs dry
(usually becase they've kicked litter on it) and when I clean the cage
every two weeks.  Is this bad for them to have the same water for so
this length of time?

Also if I go away for the weekend, I'll leave a piece of apple in the
cage, just in case the water bottle runs dry.
