In the spirit of this thread (or at least where this thread started),
I was in my local PetSmart, and noticed that they had no gerbils.  I was
talking to a macaw, and overheard one of the clerks on the phone.  I heard
him say "No, sorry, there's a nationwide shortage of gerbils right now."
When he got off the phone, I told him that I'm a breeder.  He jokingly told
me that if I were to set up a little "gerbil stand" outside the shop, I could
likely get $10 a piece for 'em :)  He then went on to say that it was likely
that the manager would throw me out, if I tried it, but. . .
(hey, it's all a joke, I'm not about to set up and sell gerbils outside of
PetSmart, so if you flame me, I'll ignore it :)
By the way, going further off-topic, I am a vegetarian, but I haven't major
moral issues about meat, I just don't like it and feel that humans aren't
really intended to eat meat for various scientific reasons.
