We just met with our veterinarian because our little dove boy, Sam, had something sticking out on his tummy that was bleeding once in awhile. We thought he might have had an infected navel like Bilbo did a couple of months back. But the vet says he has a tumor. So we are taking him in next Tuesday for surgery. I know that this is pretty routine but it is still a little scary when it's your own baby. Dr. Storm checked Bilbo too and said he didn't have any bumps or lumps that weren't suppose to be there. It's a relief to know they aren't both needing surgery. Sam and Bilbo are a little over 2 1/2 years old.
I would appreciate any advise that those who have been through this can give me. Should he be kept on any special bedding while he heals? They are on aspen right now, but I wondered if plain paper might be better during recovery. Have your gerbils chewed at their stitches or pretty much left them alone? If they chewed them, what did you do to discourage them? We are planning on taking out things he might be tempted to jump up on to minimize the stress on the healing skin. Is there anything else we should consider? Thanks for your help. ===== Elaine Lynch Bilbo and Sam AGS member We will miss you Frodo. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
