Actually to me giving the name GIMP to the first "free software" end user application foremost strengthens people's prejudges that open source software is unprofessional and mostly targeted at immature adolescents. Come on, it's not even clever, it's like naming an end user app something like MO'FO, FAG or RETARD. Spam? You have to be kidding me! That comes from Hormel SpicedHam and was introduced in the '30s. Since when is the name itself derogatory?
