hi, i am ordering glasses for my mom for christmas. i've ordered my normal single-vision prescription from zenni and i've always been pleased with the results. but my mom has progressives and a semi- strong prescription to boot.
i've read just about every review i can find online about progressive transition lenses but none say much about the thickness being a problem (or not a problem, for that matter). her prescription is -5.5 and -5.75 with a -.5 cyl. i know zenni doesn't do high-index lenses for progressives. has anyone ever gotten a pair of progressive (transition or not) lenses from zenni with such a high prescription? mainly i am afraid they will be horrible coke-bottle thickness. my mom needs half-rim glasses because with the height of progressives they would overpower her face with full frames. one of my eyes is a -6.75 but i wear thick plastic frames so it's not an issue; the lens seems like it might be prohibitively thick for a half-rim style but i'm not sure what difference -1.00 makes. my mom is a hip lady and she needs hip glasses (her old pair is awful, oh man, i can't wait to get her stylish new frames for christmas, so i hope this works out, even at zenni they're expensive for me :/). thanks and my mom thanks you from the future. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://www.glassyeyes.com!
