You asked three questions, so let me address them individually.

1) Does anyone have a prescription as severe as yours?
We have had participants with prescriptions approaching 20 diopters.
Yours is *only* around 6 or 7...mild, by comparison. And yes, their
online glasses worked out just fine, according to their posts.

2) Will they make my eyes look funny?
This is a factor influenced by the lens's strength...not its
thickness. While it's true that thicker lenses *draw attention* to
the effect, it's not the cause.

3) Will the lenses be ridiculously thick?
Only you can answer this one, as what some find acceptable, others
will not. It's also partly dependent on the type and style of frames
you pick...plastic frames, for example, hide the edge thickness more
than thin wire rimmed frames.

To help you make this decision, here is a link to an online thickness
calculator:
http://www.opticampus.com/tools/thickness.php

Enter in your numbers, and it'll spit out the edge thickness for your
prescription.
