This entire topic is quite amusing.

No one should be concerned about being sued about giving advice to
others buying eyeglasses. You can advise people on what you know about
lens materials, frame materials, size, style, color, business
practices, you can tell people if you like your eye care provider or
if you don't, you can tell them if you think they should buy from Mal-
Mart optical, or from Zenni optical, you can tell them you love
polycarbonate, hate Trivex, love A/R coatings, hate edge polishing,
love silicone nose pads, hate bendable titanium, whatever you
want........

The only two lines you cannot cross legally are:

1. If you're dispensing an optical prescription without a license, or
2. You're selling and/or dispensing prescription eyeglasses with
lenses without a license (in most states).

If someone wants to pay you for helping them buy eyeglasses online, or
even in a store, that's up to them.

If you're a trained optical provider with full qualifications, a
license or not, and you know how to fit people for PD and seg heights,
you can do so freely and charge for it if you wish. As long as you're
not dispensing the actual prescription or fabricating and selling the
lenses.

The Pupilary Distance measurement is just that, a fitting measurement
for eyeglasses. It it not directly related to your eye correction
prescription.
