For the record, the Kurile Lake volcano super-eruption at 8.2
kya was only a VEI 7 event, similar to Tambura in 1815 CE.
While this produces a year without a summer, it is simply not
enough to produce this effect.  I now understand it as a
junior version of Younger Dryas, sea-ice and all that.

Regarding Spencer's iris effect, how can we explain the rather
warmer temperature of the mid-Holocene, the much warmer
temperatures of the Eem (Eemian interglacial, temination 2)
and the even warmer temperatures of termination 3?

I opine that if there is an iris effect, it is too small to do
more than lower the climate sensitivity estimate a smigin...
