Leslie,

I have used mogas for about 20 years, in the Cessnas and in the Ercoupe.
For the coupe, I have four red plastic five gallon gas cans that I
dedicate exclusively to Ercoupe use ( no lawnmower or extra 4x4 gas).

While I do not disagree with the comments on static and with the
precautions taken, I don't go to nearly the extent they do. I haven't
blown myself up <YET>. I do like the idea of the transfer pump with an
extra filter- good idea.

When I fill the cans, I put the empty can on the ground and fill it. When
I pour it into the Ercoupe, I put the plastic nozzle against the edge of
the filler neck and go ahead and pour. I do not do any extra filtering,
but I do visually inspect the cans before I put them in the 'coupe. I buy
gas at one station only (Flying J-- no alcohol gas, and a huge volume to
ensure fresh clean fuel (I hope)).

I check my fuel at the petcocks and have never found any water or
contaminents. It is EZ to fuel the Ercoupe with "carry your own" gas, due
to the low wing. And, it makes flying like driving the car-- I just get
in the 'coupe and go, and don't worry about the cost.

On the Cessna, it is not so easy. I generally only use mogas in the
Cessna when it is available at the pump at the various FBO's in our part
of the country. I have used gas cans for it in the past but it's a pain.

:-) John Barsness
