First, Hartmut, go to Trade-a-Plane, or any such publication. Look at the aircraft. Typical; "Cessna 150 1600 hours TT. 500 SMOH." Time after time, after time........... I suspect if they're taken well care of, and ran enough to keep them prime, they'll last longer. But, anyone who says that in general a Cont. will last as long as an equivalent Lyc., is in a world of his own. I have had two aircraft with Lycoming engines. I liked them both. Neither of them had extremely high hours, although the 108 hp Colt did have 1100 hrs. on the engine.
