If you figure 42 sq. feet are already covered with metal, then that leaves 100 sq. feet x 2 (top and bottom). That's 200 sq. feet at .3 pounds per square foot = 60 lb. Plus a bit for rivets. Compared to Ceconite and coatings. Maybe 32 lb. or more is not out of line for reality. The book that contains all the inspection records, STC's, addendums to pilot operating handbooks, annuals, and repair certificates to my airplane weighs 34 pounds. I have gained 40 pounds since I began going to Ercoupe fly ins 12 years ago. I know the bilges of my airplane hold at least 40 pounds of nuts and bolts that have been dropped and unrecovered since I have owned it. Now do you see where Hartmut is coming from? There is 40 pounds of dust and grime in places that cannot be reached on my airplane.
