Just to have something to talk about .020 aluminum weighs about .3 pounds per square foot. The book that contains all the inspection records, STC's, addendums to pilot operating handbooks, annuals, and repair certificates to my airplane weighs 34 pounds. I have gained 40 pounds since I began going to Ercoupe fly ins 12 years ago. I know the bilges of my airplane hold at least 40 pounds of nuts and bolts that have been dropped and unrecovered since I have owned it. Now do you see where Hartmut is coming from? There is 40 pounds of dust and grime in places that cannot be reached on my airplane.
