Labs are temporary by nature. They probably became filters you could create and delete when the lab went away. You could always create the filters again, but you'll have to figure out how they worked.
I'm not sure what you mean by published, but if you are referring to your message being posted to the group, that happened as soon as the moderators released it. That's what the message meant when you hit post, that it would wait for the moderators to approve it.
