  The 'depmod' command is giving that "conf:1 missing argument" error.  I
don't know exactly why.  Just a guess, but run the "df" command.  You may have
run out of disk space during the install, something Red Hat doesn't handle
very well.

  What are the contents of your /etc/conf.modules file?
