One quick question on modules here. Is there a defined list of aliases that are
referenced to elsewhere in Linux or can you use any alias for the loading of the
modules in /etc/conf.modules??

Bingo. Line one (that must be the "conf:1:" bit) is missing an
argument.
"alias sbpcd" needs something to alias it *to*. I'm not sure what
should be
there, tho... are things working for you now, with the empty file?
