Hello everyone, new to the list. Have a small Samba dilemma...

Last night I got my RH6.1 box going as an ntp server. During this
process I decided to change the domain name to something else. The box
was originally linux.domain.com, now its linux.newdomain.com. After
doing this I could no longer connect to the samba shares from my 98
workstations. I brought up SWAT and saw that nmdb was not running.
Checking the log file told me it couldn't find the node linux.domain.com.
So I remembered and changed the host file to reflect 127.0.0.1 was now
linux.newdomain.com. Nmdb now started. But I still can't connect to any
shares. As soon as I double click on the server in network neighborhood
I get an error that the server name no longer exists. Rebooting both
server and client had no effect. I do have an error in SWAT that
"Couldn't open status file STATUS..LCK". There is no such file anywhere
on the system. Both smdb and nmdb are running. I changed nothing in
smb.conf. I have to believe I missed something in the domain name
change. Any ideas?

Jim
