I was thinking more of the folks who might be fairly content, but start
seeing lots of job postings on the list and start thinking the grass might
be greener on the other side. If I were an employer I'd not be worried
about the dissatisfied employees so much as I'd be concerned about
keeping the satisfied ones feeling that way - making them think there's
a strong job market might give them an inflated idea of their own value.
I'd be particularly concerned if I had a tight budget and didn't want to
compete in an inflationary job market. My response would likely be
to discourage participation in the list. (Yeah, that's PHB thinking, but
why give them ammunition while we're trying to undermine them? They
might put it to more effective use then just shooting themselve in the
foot!)

It's already too much for the limited bandwidth of my Mk.I eyeballs.
I've been getting a couple of hundred emails a day recently, mostly
from this group (BUN traffic, future of linux, private mails sent to the
group, etc all included). That's too much.

At the present rate I'd vote to ban the traffic, if I had to choose. I was
willing to seek some alternative, but if there is no such inclination
elsewhere
count me against the traffic. BTW, I consider it very telling that the two
favorable votes immediately before my response both admitted bias due
to recent posts - that suggests that the level *IS* prevalent.
