I was looking at the 812C, but then I noticed that it's connectivity is
listed as "IEEE 1284-Centronics parallel compatible Universal Serial Bus
(Windows 98 and USB-connect
Macintosh)". So, there are 2 problems here: 1) USB support under Linux
is still in a fledgling state and 2) Win98 is SPECIFICALLY mentioned,
which is the new way for manufacturers to get around calling something a
Win-xxx (sub xxx for whatever product). That is how I ended up with a
scanner that doesn't work under Linux (yet).
