Folks,
I dug around for a moment on google and found a couple of likely hits
that talk specifically about HP printer support for Linux. There's a
fellow who's created a project to support these later HP printers, and
he's got stuff on Source Forge:

Perhaps there's a more general purpose solution for win printers (I'm still
sifting google to see if Lexmark win printers are supported myself) but these
links should provide a start for you folks with HP printers.
